i work with children as a teacher and there are so many who are in abusive situations but are afraid to speak out, even when they become adults. I hope your courageous book helps them to find their voice. well done. From: Kerry (United Kingdom) Posted: May 28, 2008
I know you probably hear this everyday but i admire you all so much for what you have achieved. Your deserve every happiness in the world. I was moved to tears by your book and couldn't shake the pictures from my head. You are all so brave to stand up for what is right, the courage you have shown is beyond words. Thank you for opening the eyes of people around the world. From: Deb Donner (United States) Posted: May 26, 2008
Thank you for writing your book and allowing others a view into the inner workings of cults. Too many people KNOW that these cults exist and yet they sit back and do nothing, or worse, work to cover up the reality of what is taking place. For too long religious groups have hidden behind their "religious beliefs" in order to continue to abuse their children. It's about time the right people sit up and take notice and do something. You're amazing women and you deserve to be happy. thank you. From: Sonya (United Kingdom) Posted: May 25, 2008
After reading your book ladies, I just felt that I needed to congratulate you on staying strong and emancipating yourselves from such a powerful tie as "the family". Even as adults we just crave to have parental approval and the fact that you have gone against your fathers wishes as such, proves that you have developed such a high sense of morality and self worth, which is reverred by everyone who reads your book. Stay staunch against people who deny the truth and best wishes with your future. From: Brandi Samantha (United States) Posted: May 20, 2008
Your time is now! Continue to stand united and strong, with this power no harm can come to you. You have won- love, be happy, and continue to grow. You ladies will help and inspire millions with your story. I am honored to have read your book. With all of my love- to my sisters! From: James (Ireland) Posted: May 20, 2008
Just wanted to write to commend all of you on your bravery and courage to make yourselves heard. I cannot begin to understand what all of you went through, but you are truly exceptional and UNITED you have a powerful voice. Take care all three of you and your extended families, and thank you for being brave. From: Sarah (Tanzania, United Republic Of) Posted: May 19, 2008
Bought the last copy available in Dar es Salaam at the moment, and read it straight through. So sorry Julie that we didn't know enough about what was going on to offer you the support you needed. Brave - all of you - for facing this head on and working to let us see this awful organisation for what it was and is, and help those still there and traumatised. Come visit sometime soon, lots of fresh air and space at the ocean. From: Elaine (Ireland) Posted: May 18, 2008
I have just finished reading your book...it shocked and angered me to know that this was going on around us for many years, and nobody was aware of it. You must be so proud to be able to tell your story and you are amazingly strong women to be able to come through such an ordeal. It makes me count my blessings about what a lucky life I have led. Good luck in your futures, Elaine. From: Tom (United Kingdom) Posted: May 18, 2008
What amazingly brave women you all are. Not only to gain freedom from the most horrific of childhoods but to go on to write a true and emotional account of your experience. This book has certainly opened my eyes, throughout i kept trying to imagine how i would have coped. Frankly i couldnt even begin to imagine. Thankyou for writing this book and your work with RISE is truly remarkable. I had to look up "The Family" online...there are no words.
May you live a free and happy life, much lovexFrom: emily (Australia) Posted: May 17, 2008

i read your book as part of a researh assignment on cults. I found your stories truly moving and incredibly inspirational thank you so much for being brave enough to share your experiences. From: angela (United Kingdom) Posted: April 30, 2008
i have read the book twice and have passed it on to my sister in law to read have read many books about these religious groups/cults and am astonished that local police or authorities arent given more power to help people in these cults.but that is sometimes difficult when these said people are part of these groups .local authority figures should b un biased From: Rebekah Buley (United States) Posted: April 28, 2008
I was born in a cult and left there with my family when I was 11. I am now 27 have 3 kids and have just begun to educate myself about the effects of being born into a cult. I am so glad there are others out there. The church I was in didn't teach sexual abuse(of course things happened because the environment was so messed up), but they blatantly taught child training(physical abuse and mental abuse of children). Even my worst day now is 100% better than any day as a child. Thank-you so much. From: julia (United Kingdom) Posted: April 28, 2008
ive just finished reading your book. I couldnt put it down, its so sad children have to go through what you all went through. Tears filled my eyes when reading about your pain. As a childcarer and parent it sickens me to believe adults treat children so cruelly.
I wish you all a happy and successful life. Take care xx From: steph (United Kingdom) Posted: April 27, 2008
just finished reading your book i didnt even know that these cults even still existed . just hope one day you will get the justice that you all deserve after the years of abuse just like me and my sister did after our abuse from a family member.
all my love and support

Greatest book I ever read it really brings you down to earth! From: Paula Egan-Hanlon (United Kingdom) Posted: April 17, 2008
This book opened my eyes, I never imagined things like this going on whilst I was growing up in a normal life. You are all amazing to have come out the other end and to be so grounded and turn your lives around. I just pray that all the rest of your family can too. You are all so brave. From: Anna (Finland) Posted: April 17, 2008
Your book is truly fascinating. You guys are so brave to speak out about what happened. I spent many years in the cog in the 80's (from 0-10 y.) and I'm still coming to terms with my own experiences. Your book is very personal, as there are flashbacks when the homes and practices are described, and many of the musicians names are still very recognizable to me.
I want to thank you guys for writing this book; spreading the word of what it REALLY was like.
